It’s indeed a matter of great honour, says Khandu on Arunachal being selected to host ‘Santosh Trophy’

Itanagar: In a ‘huge’ honour for the region, Arunachal Pradesh is going to host the 77th edition of the National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24 in this year-end.

“Arunachal Pradesh has been selected to host the Final Round of the prestigious 77th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy 2023-24 in the months of November-December this year in Itanagar,” informed the Arunachal Pradesh Football Association (APFA).

With this, Arunachal Pradesh is going to be the first state from the Northeast region to host the final round of the National Football Championship.

Expressing his delight on this development, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said, “It’s indeed a matter of great honour and pride that the All India Football Federation (AIFF) has given the opportunity to Arunachal Pradesh to host Santosh Trophy Final Round competition for the season 2023-24.

“I’m sure the event will give a big boost to the sports ecosystem in the entire North East region,” Khandu said.

The State Football Association (APFA) also extended its thankfulness to the All India Football Federation for giving this wonderful opportunity to Arunachal Pradesh to host one of the biggest football events in the country.
