Chennai: The ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu strongly reacted to the first list of “DMK files” released by the State BJP President K. Annamalai about the assets of top rung leaders, including the party chief and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, MPs and MLAs, and termed it a ‘political stunt’, ‘frivolous’ and threatened to drag him to court if he did not prove the charges.

The DMK would not be cowed down by such charges, and it would face them legally.

Reacting to Annamalai releasing the asset details of 12 DMK leaders and their family members, the DMK General Secretary and Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan said, “I have not seen it, I don’t know about it. This is a political stunt.”

“He (Annamalai) is doing it for politics,” he said, in Vellore, after paying tribute to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 133rd birthday anniversary.

DMK Deputy General Secretary and Thoothukudi Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi said Annamalai had levelled such allegations because he was trying to save his political career.

Senior Leader and Law Minister Regupathy said DMK is not worried about Annamalai’s “DMK Files” as the party has not indulged in any wrongdoing. We are not worried about Annamalai’s corruption list. Since we are not guilty of any wrongdoing, we are not worried”, he added.

Dismissing the charges levelled by Annamalai against DMK leaders as ‘frivolous’, DMK Organising Secretary and Ex-Rajya Sabha MP R.S. Bharathi threatened to initiate legal action against him and set a 15-day deadline for him to prove the charges.

Talking to reporters at DMK headquarters ‘Anna Arivalayam, he said the DMK will face it legally. He had not listed even a single corruption charge and wasted everyone’s time.

” Annamalai has levelled frivolous charges against the DMK leaders to divert public attention from allegations of the BJP State President receiving Rs 84 crore in the Arudhra Chit Fund Scam,”, he charged.
