Shillong: The Office of the District Social Welfare Officer, East Khasi Hills, in collaboration with the One Stop Centre (Shillong and Mawphlang) and the Village Organisations of Mawngap Dukan and Sawlad Marbisu, celebrated International Women’s Day 2026 on 16th March 2026 at Mawngap Taxi Stand under the theme “Give to Gain.”

The programme featured welcome and introductory addresses, followed by speeches from representatives of the Health Department, Police Department, and District Legal Services Authority highlighting women’s health, safety, and legal awareness. A skit performed by the Jlawdohtir group emphasized the importance of community support, equality, and empowerment of women, reflecting the spirit of the theme “Give to Gain,” which encourages collective efforts and mutual support for the progress of women in society. Special addresses were delivered by Lancester Marbaniang, MDC MawphlangDiengiei; lamonlang Syiem, Chairperson of the Women Commission; and the Chief Guest, Matthew Beyondstar Kurbah, MLA of Mawphlang (ST) Constituency. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by the Village Organisations of Mawngap Dukan and Sawlad Marbisu.
