Shillong: Indian Air Force’s helicopter aerobatic team ‘Sarang’ stole the air display over the picturesque Umiam lake here in Meghalaya.

The Sarang team flew the indigenous Advanced Light Helicopter manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in various spectacular formations.

Apart from the Sarang, the Indian Air Force also displayed its modern assets like the Rafale and SU 30. The display consisted of Flypast by Dornier, Rafale and SU 30 aircraft carrying out formation flying.

The mighty Chinook Helicopters also enthralled the crowd with their display. The Chinook carried out formation flying and other aerial manoeuvres demonstrating exceptional flying skills and professionalism.

Eastern Air Command chief Air Marshal SP Dharkar today said at the sidelines of the air show that the IAF hopes that such shows would motivate youth to join the IAF.

“We find that a lot of youths in Meghalaya are interested in the services, especially the IAF. We find them in museums and the like. Shows like these would motivate them further to come across and join the services” the Air Marshal said.
