India successfully tests short-range ballistic missile Prithvi-II

The missile is a proven system and is capable of striking targets with a very high degree of precision, Defence Ministry said.

New Delhi:  India carried out a successful training launch of a Short-Range Ballistic Missile Prithvi-II on Wednesday at around 7.30 pm from the Integrated Test Range at Chandipur in Odisha.

The missile is a proven system and is capable of striking targets with a very high degree of precision, Defence Ministry said.

The user training launch successfully validated all operational and technical parameters of the missile, it added.

Prithvi-II is a single-state, liquid-fuelled short-range ballistic missile which was first introduced into service in 2003. 

The missile has an operational range of around 350 km and can be armed with 500 to 1,000 kilogram conventional or nuclear warheads.
