Kangpokpi: In a continued effort to promote self-reliance, skill development, and women empowerment, the Indian Army inaugurated a Beauty Parlour for Vocational Training under Operation Sadbhavana at Leimakhong Hill Town, Kangpokpi District, Manipur. The center was inaugurated in the presence of senior Army officials, local representatives and members of the community. The initiative aims to provide practical vocational skills to local women, enabling them to achieve financial independence and sustainable livelihoods.
As part of the project eight ladies will undergo a course that will provide hands on training in modern beauty and grooming techniques along with basic entrepreneurship skills. On successful completion, participants will receive certification enabling them to start their own professional services or seek employment in the beauty and wellness sector, strengthening livelihoods and fostering community development. The center has been equipped with salon chairs, waxing bench, various electrician appliances like hair dryers, cosmetics accessories etc. to appeal to a large number of women and empower them with meaningful training & skills. Local residents expressed their gratitude to the Indian Army for this meaningful initiative, noting that the center would open new avenues for income generation and personal growth. Many trainees shared their enthusiasm and determination to make the most of the opportunity. Operation Sadbhavana continues to serve as a bridge between the Army and the local population, promoting trust, harmony, and development. The inauguration of the Beauty Parlour and Vocational Training Centre stands as another step towards building a skilled, confident and self-reliant community
