Hyderabad: A heart-wrenching incident unfolded as a police constable lost his life due to an accidental misfire of his service firearm while he was preparing to rest after completing picket duty at the police outpost in the Kabutar Khane area within the jurisdiction of the Hussaini Alam Police Station in the early hours of Wednesday.
The constable who tragically lost his life has been identified as Bhupathi Srikanth. Engaged in picket duty, he was in the process of winding down and preparing to rest after fulfilling his duty at 0400 hours,when his gun misfired and the bullet pierced his ear. Immediately shifted him to Osmania General Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
Bhupathi Srikanth hails from Appanna Peta village in Suryapet District. He was a part of the 2018 batch of recruits and was unmarried.
A case has been registered and an investigation is underway, police said.
