Hundreds of students take to the streets protesting the kidnapping of two youths

The two youths Avinash Maibam (16 yrs) and Ningthoujam Anthony (19 yrs) both residents of Akham Awang Leikai under Lamshang PS, reportedly set off on a Jawa bike for Nongpok Sekmai at around 9 am on Sunday and have been traceless since then.

Imphal: Hundreds of students came out in protest in the streets of Imphal on Monday strongly condemning the suspected kidnapping of two youths on Sunday morning by miscreants. Students of CC School, Johnstone School, Anand Singh Academy shouting slogans marched towards the Raj Bhavan, but a large number of policemen deployed at Keishampat junction managed to detain them there.

The two youths Avinash Maibam (16 yrs) and Ningthoujam Anthony (19 yrs) both residents of Akham Awang Leikai under Lamshang PS, reportedly set off on a Jawa bike for Nongpok Sekmai at around 9 am on Sunday and have been traceless since then.

CCTV footage shows the two youths driving towards Kanglatombi and their mobile phone was recovered near a petrol pump in Senapati, according to reports.

Earlier in the day, protests erupted along the Uripok Kangchup road with people blocking the roads in Eroisemba and Lamshang area.

Security forces have launched search operations to trace and rescue the two youths as per reports.
