HP: IMD synoptic system forecast major spell of snow & rain on Nov 27

Maximum temperatures likely to show slight improvement in the next two to three days. However, in next week, a Western disturbance likely to hit several parts of Northern Western Himalayas and it could bring major spell of snow and rain from November 27 afternoon onwards.

Shimla: India Meteorological Department (IMD), though forecasted dry weather during the current week in Himachal Pradesh, but its synoptic system gave indication that a major spell of snow and rain could occur in the state on next Monday leading to sudden dip in the temperatures.
IMD said that currently Northern Western Himalayan states are facing foggy weather in the wee hours but the minimum and maximum temperatures were mainly normal.

The Western Disturbances is likely to affect dry weather conditions from November 26 as it could be partly cloudy to mainly overcast. Tourists and locals commuters who booked the hill station witnessed pleasant weather during the day time and it will continue till Saturday.
The coldwave may effect the state from November 27 to 28 and the temperatures would be normal on November 29 and 30.
Early advancement of snowfall may intensify coldwave conditions in December as the sunny hours schedule will reduce till December 25 and the state may have snowfall on Christmas and New Year days.
According to IMD Synoptic features the WDs as a trough in mid-tropospheric levels now runs roughly along Long. 60°E to the north of Lat. 30°N at 5.8 km above mean sea level.
A fresh major Western Disturbance is likely to affect Northwest & West India from November 25.
Drivers and commuters should mind speed while driving in the hills as IMD warned that, including plains, many north western states reeling under foggy conditions likely to intensify within next few days as passengers may face delay in the movement of trains and lead traffic congestion due to sudden decline of visibility due to foggy weather conditions till this weekend.
Minimum temperature stay several degrees below freezing point in tribal area as Kaza was coldest in the state at minus six degrees.
The minimum temperature on Wednesday night recorded minus three in Keylong Headquarter Lahaul Spiti district and minus 2.3 in Samdho, Kalpa in Kinnaur recorded 2.8 degrees, Manali and Bhuntar airport three, Solan 4.8, Mandi and tourists resort Narkanda 5.8, Chamba 7, Tourists resort Kufri, Dalhousie, Shimla eight, Dharmshala, Kangra and Shimla airport nine degrees.
