Beijing: A civilian helicopter crashed in the southwestern suburbs of Beijing, killing both pilots, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) said on Thursday.
“On July 6, at around 3:30 pm (local time), a Bell 505 helicopter belonging to Beijing Reignwood Star General Aviation crashed during a flight from Changping District (north of Beijing) to Shidu Scenic Area in Fangshan District (southwest of Beijing). Two pilots on board were killed,” CAAC said in a statement.
The aviation authority noted that the helicopter was severely damaged, but there were no reports of victims at the site as a result of the crash.
The Chinese authorities deployed a special investigation team following a report of the helicopter crash to inquire into the causes of the accident.
