Imphal: Praising the renewed thrust on infrastructure development in the state, BJP MLA from Sekmai Assembly Constituency, Heikham Dingo Singh, on Wednesday lauded Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh for his proactive initiative to improve Manipur’s road network.

Speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony of a new RCC bridge at Khurkhul Lamkhai, Dingo expressed deep appreciation for the Chief Minister’s vision and commitment toward strengthening road connectivity across the state. The proposed 22-foot-wide bridge will link Khurkhul Lamkhai to Mahajon Golai via Phumlou under the Sekmai constituency, significantly enhancing transportation and accessibility in the area.

Highlighting the challenges faced by Sekmai — one of the largest constituencies in Manipur — Dingo noted that poor road conditions, compounded by economic constraints, have long hindered development. He stressed that road infrastructure remains a priority sector requiring urgent attention.

Referring to the formation of the new popular government following the President’s Rule, the MLA expressed confidence that under the leadership of Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh, the state would witness a transformative phase in infrastructure development. He described the Chief Minister’s fresh vision and focus on road improvement as both commendable and reassuring for the people.

Dingo further voiced hope that the new ministry would accord special emphasis to the maintenance and upgradation of roads in Sekmai constituency. Assuring timely completion of the bridge project, he stated that road conditions in the region would see significant improvement in the near future.

The MLA announced that the road connecting Lamshang to Mahajon Golai via Koutruk would soon undergo major improvement works, promising visible changes shortly. He also emphasized that the government is prioritizing the development of inter-village roads to ensure balanced and inclusive growth.

The foundation-laying programme was attended by officials from the Public Works Department, including the Executive Engineer, along with other dignitaries.
