Govt nod to CBI to prosecute Amnesty International India, Aakar Patel

The probe agency filed a chargesheet in December last year in CBI Court at Rouse Avenue against Amnesty International India and Patel under various sections after investigation of alleged violations of FCRA.

New Delhi: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) got the green signal from the Union government to prosecute Amnesty International India and its former chief Aakar Patel in alleged violations of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA), sources said.

The CBI sought the sanction from the Centre to prosecute Amnesty International as per the clause of Section 40 of the FCRA, said a senior official.

The probe agency filed a chargesheet in December last year in CBI Court at Rouse Avenue against Amnesty International India and Patel under various sections after investigation of alleged violations of FCRA.
