Imphal: Manipur Governor La. Ganesan has reiterated that governments at the Centre and the State are fully committed to all-round development and the welfare of the people.
Addressing the people gathered at Sadbhavna Mandap in Chakpikarong Sub-divisional Headquarters in Chandel district Wednesday, Governor said all governments are meant for the people and are also working for the people.
La. Ganesan further said, a lot of progress has been seen in the last few years and many welfare schemes have also been introduced by the Centre. He said the benefits of such schemes have reached the people directly through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
Assuring the people a clean all-weather road, he said almost all the roads in the State will be cleaned within a year. To give safe drinking water to every household, steps have been taken up under the nationwide Jal Yojna, he added.
Stating that cleanliness would be the best way to fight against any form of disease, Governor said, we should always try to keep ourselves and our environment neat and clean. He said, next to cleanliness, vaccination should be our priority to fight the Covid pandemic. All should get at least two doses of Covid Vaccine so that we can fight it.

Appealing to the people in the district, mainly those living in the border areas to give co-operation to the government, governor La. Ganesan said all citizens should enrol for Aadhar for our identification. We should co-operate Government to stop an intruder from coming into our State. He also expressed confidence that proper fencing work would be started soon on the borderline with Myanmar.
Earlier, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Village chiefs submitted memoranda to the Governor urging him to look into the grievances of the villagers. Governor assured that all possible help would be extended at the earliest. Governor also attended a tree plantation programme during his visit.
Chandel MLA, S.S. Olish also attended the interaction programme. She also thanked the Governor for his visit to Chandel district for the second time. Deputy Commissioner, Chandel, M. Rajkumar and Secretary to Governor Bobby Waikhom, among others, attended the programme.
