Imphal: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey Tuesday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and apprised him about the prevailing situation in Manipur.
The Governor informed in detail about the series of violent incidents taking place both in hill and valley districts which led to the loss of lives and properties.
Uikey informed about the various measures taken up by the centre as well as state government to normalise the situation and bring back peace and tranquillity in the crisis hit state.
She informed the Prime Minister about the issues and suggestions received from Civil Society Organisations, political representatives, student organisations etc. from Meitei, Kuki and Naga communities in the State as well in Delhi.
Furthermore, the governor explained about the condition and grievances of violence affected people staying in relief camps both in hills and valley districts and steps taken up by the government for their early resettlement and rehabilitation.
Earlier, the Manipur Governor also met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence minister Rajnath Singh and apprised them about the current situation in the state.
The Governor briefed the Home Minister about her visit to hill as well as valley districts. The Union Home Minister assured to extend all possible assistance to Manipur so that normalcy and peace is restored at the earliest.
Uikey briefed the Defence Minister about the joint combing operations carried out by Army along with other state/paramilitary forces at various sensitive locations and consequently huge cache of arms and ammunition have also been recovered.
