GOC, Red Shield Division flags off National Integration Tour for Manipur students

The tour will take the participants to Kolkata, Tawang, and Shillong, offering them a chance to experience the region's rich cultural heritage and diversity.

Imphal: As part of its ongoing efforts to engage and inspire the youth, the Indian Army has launched a 10-day “National Integration Tour” under Operation Sadbhavana for nine Youth Ambassadors from Manipur. The tour, which runs from October 14 to October 23, 2024, was flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Red Shield Division on October 14, 2024, at Koirengei in Imphal East district.

The tour will take the participants to Kolkata, Tawang, and Shillong, offering them a chance to experience the region’s rich cultural heritage and diversity. They will also explore various Army establishments in these cities during their visit.

In Kolkata, the Youth Ambassadors will visit the iconic Victoria Memorial, participate in a Heritage Walk at Fort William, and tour the Headquarters of Eastern Command. At Tawang, they will visit Sela Pass, Sela Lake, Tawang Monastery, and Madhuri Lake, paying tribute at Bum La and the Tawang War Memorial in honor of the soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the 1962 Indo-China War.

The final leg of the tour will take place in Shillong, where the group will visit the scenic attractions of Meghalaya. They are also scheduled to meet with the Governor of Meghalaya before the tour concludes on October 23, 2024, in Imphal, according to a press release from the PRO (Defence) for Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
