Bhubaneswar: Former Union Minister Srikanta Jena on Monday announced that an ‘’ ADHIKAR YATRA’’ would be undertaken for the constitutional rights of the Other Backward Classes.

Jena at a press conference here appealed to all like minded parties and social organisations to join the Yatra.

The former Union Minister described the decision of the Odisha government to conduct a survey of backward classes as a mockery of backward classes.

He said after betraying the OBCs for 23 years, an effort is being made to cheat them again. He wanted the government to clarify whether it would be a caste based survey.

The union Minister said it is an effort to mislead the people before the 2014 elections and win votes.

In the name of survey, the government is betraying 54 percent people of the state by not conducting caste based survey, he remarked

Jena said during the 25 years of Naveen Patnaik the backward classes were deprived of their rights in education and employment.

Political and administrative power is concentrated in the hands of six percent of the people of the state, he said.
