Imphal: Khumanthem (Ongbi) Wahengbam Radharani and her family Thursday observed the religious-ceremonial monthly feast in memory of her late husband Major Khumanthem Deepak Singh at the Langol Old Age Home, which a dozen elderly people of the Home partook.

Major Khumanthem Deepak Kumar Singh, a retired former Indian Army officer, passed away at his Thangmeiband residence in December last year.

Eldest among four siblings, Major KDK Singh was born to K Somerendro and RK Divyamanjuri on 2nd March 1954. He began his schooling from the Little Flower School, Imphal, (present campus of Nirmalabas school).

He was a good hockey and football player and was known for his self-discipline and moral-uprightness from early childhood.

Standing up for those in a disadvantaged position, in need of help was part of his nature. Thursday’s observation of his 3rd month of his passing away at the Langol Old Age Home, the family believes, is keeping alive the ideals he stood for.
