Rio De Janeiro: Bruno Henrique struck in the 94th minute as Flamengo maintained their hopes of winning a third straight Brazilian Serie A title with a 1-0 home victory over Corinthians.
Henrique on Wednesday broke the deadlock with a close-range header following Rodinei Almeida’s probing run and cross from the right flank.
The result at the Maracana stadium leaves second-placed Flamengo with 63 points from 32 matches, eight points behind leader Atletico Mineiro. Both teams have six games remaining in the season.
Corinthians are fifth in the 20-team standings with 50 points from 33 outings.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Wednesday, Juventude won 1-0 at home to Fluminense, Sao Paulo prevailed 2-0 at Palmeiras, Ceara romped to a 4-0 win at Fortaleza, Cuiaba won 1-0 at home to Internacional, hosts Santos overcame Chapecoense 2-0 and Atletico Goianiense held America Mineiro to a goalless draw in Belo Horizonte.
