Fires killed 1,860 in Delhi in 5 years

According to statistics issued by the Delhi Fire Service, the maximum deaths were recorded in 2021-22 when 591 people died and 1,421 were injured.

New Delhi: A total of 1,860 people lost their lives and 7,558 were injured in fire related incidents from April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2022 in Delhi.

According to statistics issued by the Delhi Fire Service, the maximum deaths were recorded in 2021-22 when 591 people died and 1,421 were injured.

The least fatalities of 297 took place in 2018-19. Altogether 1,597 people were injured. The Delhi Fire Service responded to 1,44,896 fire calls in the last five years, with 2018-19 accounting for 31,264 calls.

Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg told UNI: “Our endeavour is to protect the life and property of citizens by responding to calls.”
