Farmer attacked, killed by thieves

The Shirsat's family members noticed incident on Saturday morning and informed about it to the Pathadi police station.

Ahmednagar: A gang of armed thieves allegedly attacked and killed a cotton farmer at Kadgav Shivar in Pathardi taluka of the district in wee hours of Saturday.
On Friday midnight, the thieves came to Shirsat’s residence to steal the cotton that he had kept in a tin shed. They picked up around 10 or 12 sacks full of cotton from Shirsat’s shed and hid it in a nearby sugarcane field.
Upon hearing noise, Shirsat, who was sleeping in the shed, woke up and tried to shout, but the thieves
attacked him with weapons, killing him on the spot.
The Shirsat’s family members noticed incident on Saturday morning and informed about it to the Pathadi police station.
Following which, a police team reached the scene of crime, sent the body of Shirsat for post-mortem and launched a search operation for the assailants, sources added.
