Itanagar: In view of the forthcoming Assembly elections in the State, Arunachal Pradesh BJP president Biyuram Wahge has urged the public to “prioritize” collective development over individual gains and emphasized “the need to evaluate leaders based on their intentions and deeds rather than religious affiliations”.
Attending the one-day orientation cum sensitization programme on “Vikshit Bharat Sankalp & Vikshit Nyapin” organized by BJP’s Nyapin Mandal unit at Laying village in Kurung Kumey district on Saturday, he cautioned against voting based on religious perspectives during elections, advocating for a focus on developmental agendas, party sources said on Sunday.
Applauding the “progress” made in areas of infrastructure and rural development, Wahge claimed that “90% of the goals have been achieved”. Furthermore, he urged appreciation for the leaders’ hard work, emphasizing the “drastic positive changes” brought under the current government led by Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
He also lauded CM Khandu’s leadership for propelling the state toward self-sufficiency during the last seven years.
Attending the program, Home Minister and senior BJP leader Bamang Felix highlighted the transformative initiatives under the leadership of Chief Minister Khandu in the State and Prime Minister Modi at the Centre.
Felix emphasized the “successful” implementation of 87 schemes from 2014 to 2023, including the recently launched Vikshit Bharat Sankalp Yatra. The schemes ranged from fixed deposits for the birth of girl children to free educational tools for students and the ambitious Jal Jeevan Mission, providing adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections. He underscored the commitment to making Arunachal Pradesh self-sufficient, particularly in terms of electricity, with a focus on hydropower.
Among others, BJP’s State general secretary Nalong Mize, Kurung Kumey district unit president Tadar Deven and the district in-charge Nani Opo also spoke at the program.
