Imphal: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has summoned Manipur Congress president Keisham Meghachandra in connection with a money laundering case. Sources reported that a team from Yairpok police station delivered the ED notice to his residence on October 3rd.
The letter instructed Meghachandra, who represents the Wangkhem Assembly constituency, to appear before the ED office in Delhi on October 7th. However, as he only received the notice on the same day, it was impossible for him to comply, according to sources familiar with the situation.
Reacting to the summons, Meghachandra expressed confusion about the ED’s decision to involve him in a money laundering case. He pointed out that since his election to the Manipur Legislative Assembly in 2007, he has never held a ministerial post, identifying himself as “just an MLA.”
The Congress leader expressed shock upon receiving the notice, believing it may not be related to him, as he has never held significant power and currently serves only as the president of the Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee. He also noted that the summons did not specify the reason for his being called in.
