Imphal: President Droupadi Murmu conferred Digital India Awards 2022 under the category Public Digital Platforms – States to e-Services Manipur at a solemn function held Saturday at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi.

The team of e-Services Manipur include Director (IT), Information Technology Namban Deben, as Initiative lead with members Joint Director (IT), Gurumayum Robert Sharma; Informatics Officer,  Lupesh Khaidem; and Consultant (PM/TM), (SeMT) of the Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur, Thounaojam Munikanta Singh.

It may be mentioned that Digital India awards instituted in 2009 are one of a kind in India for honouring the efforts of different Government entities in the digital realm. These are conducted by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) under the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Government of India.

e-services Manipur, a Mission Mode Project with 35 end-to-end online services for nine Departments under the Government of Manipur, was launched in 2016 covering originally nine districts of the State where citizens can avail services like Birth Certificate, ST/SC/OBC Certificate, Domicile Certificate, Income Certificate, Registration Certificate for employment exchange, etc. without having to go physically to the concerned office. Further, with the creation of 7 new Districts in the State, the e-District Project has been augmented for the process flow with respect to 7 new Districts and the same has been operational in all 35 services in 16 Districts.

The e-services Manipur application has immensely benefited citizens who get much-needed services transparently with minimum cost and reduced turnaround time eliminating the need for multiple visits to Government offices and frustrating follow-ups.

The success of the project is evident from the number of transactions (18,51,601) clocked till November 22,,2022. Citizens now have easy access to Government services with minimum procedural formalities through authorised service centres like Common Service Centre thereby reducing the usage of own vehicles or public transport ensuring less pollution /emission and leading to a reduction of carbon footprint. e-District has helped in ensuring social distancing & less physical contact during the Pandemic.

The proposal for e-services Manipur 2.0 is under preparation and it is envisaged to add 35+ more online services from different line Departments leveraging emerging technologies and data-driven platforms. This platform is planned to act as a single digital platform of the Government of Manipur for availing all the Government services. (G2C, G2G, G2B).
