Imphal: The Troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police foiled cross border smuggling of narcotics in Churachandpur district on Thursday and seized drugs worth Rs 1.68 crore.
Troops of Assam Rifles and Manipur Police intercepted a vehicle at Mobile Vehicle Check Post near Tuilehluan village, Churachandpur district.
On thorough search of the vehicle, 840 grams of brown sugar in 70 soap cases were recovered from a hidden compartment near the fuel tank of the vehicle. The seized narcotics were assessed to be worth Rs 1.68 Crore.
The recovered items along with the drug peddlers were handed over to Churachandpur Police for further investigation.
