Imphal: Manipur Police seized 30 packages of suspected brown sugar from a man hailing from Jorhat in Assam while conducting mobile frisking and checking at Senapati district on Sunday.
The arrested man has been identified as Rahul Saikia, of Dangdhara Gaon under Titabar police station in Jorhat district.
The consignment of brown sugar was concealed in 30 soap cases under the front dashboard of a car.
The soap cases were weighed by using a machine in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and weighed over 346 grams.
The man has been taken into police custody. A regular FIR under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered, according to Senapati district police.
