Imphal: The Draft NEC Vision 2047 has been withdrawn following complaints from Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh about inaccuracies concerning the tribal communities of the North East.
Chief Minister Singh requested corrections from Union Minister JM Scindia and other officials regarding a mistake in ‘Chapter 3: Art, Culture and Natural Heritage,’ which incorrectly described the Kukis (Chin) as originating from the Chin State of Manipur.
Singh directly contacted Minister Scindia and instructed Chief Secretary Dr. Vineet Joshi to address the issue. The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region responded swiftly, leading to the withdrawal of the draft for revisions.
A statement from Planning Advisor Som Kamei, dated August 17, 2024, notified the Chief Secretaries of the North Eastern states that the zero/first draft of the NEC Vision Plan 2047, circulated via email on August 9 and August 17, 2024, has been withdrawn, referencing D.O. No. NEC-17/24/2023-UNDER SECRETARY(A) dated August 9, 2024.
