Imphal: Ex-MLA, presently Vice-President of Manipur Congress Committee, Dr. Khumujam Ratankumar who was earlier holding the post of Vice-President Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) has been appointed Working President of MPCC with “immediate effect”, said a press release signed by AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal on Monday.
The move comes amidst speculations in some quarters about Dr. Ratankumar’s disenchantment with the party and rumours of his leaving Congress. Dr. Ratankumar, on his part, quashed all such rumours emphatically and declared that he is very much in Congress, in a press conference held at Congress Bhavan.
He, however, admitted that he had urged the MPCC President N Loken Singh to relieve him of all organizational responsibilities which include chairmanship of the Research Department, Media committee among others. He further added that he has been a VP to many former MPCC presidents and felt that he has not been given due recognition.
Dr. Ratankumar informed media persons that after talks with MPCC President N Loken, CLP leader O Ibobi, he was assured that his grievances will be addressed and his contribution to the party will be given due recognition.
