Dr Radheshyam resigns as advisor to Manipur CM, to focus on Lok Sabha election

The former minister of education, labour, & employment was appointed as an advisor to the chief minister, N. Biren Singh, in January this year.

Imphal: Dr. Thokchom Radheshyam, a retired IPS officer, resigned on Thursday as an advisor to the Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh. 

The former minister of education, labour, & employment during the first term of the Biren Singh-led BJP government, Dr. Radheshyam, was appointed as an advisor to the chief minister, N. Biren Singh, in January this year. 

He was first elected to the Manipur Legislative Assembly from the Heirok Assembly constituency in the 2017 Manipur Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party. An alumnus of Sainik School Imphal, Radheshyam was again reelected as an MLA for the second time in the same constituency in 2022.

In a letter addressed to N Biren Singh, Radheshyam said, “I tender my resignation from the post of advisor to the Chief Minister, Manipur, as I have not been given any responsibility so far.” 

The former police officer also expressed his desire to focus on the 2024 Lok Sabha election and development work in his constituency.
