Purulia: Piles of documents of the District Intelligence Bureau (DIB) of the West Bengal Police (Purulia district) were gutted after fire broke out in its ground floor situated at Bhagat Singh More of this town early on Tuesday, officials of the fire brigade said.
The building also housed DIB’s DSP quarters on the second floor, which was also affected in the fire.
The fire was first noticed around 05 30 hours.
Two fire fighting engines were pressed into the services to bring the flames under control in about an hour, they added.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
