Imphal: Dinganglung Gangmei of BJP was elected as the Chairman of the Hill Areas Committee (HAC) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
Assembly Secretary K Meghajit said Gangmei assumed office after the election. Twenty MLAs from the hill districts of Manipur are the members of the Committee.
Gangmei’s name was proposed by the BJP. There was no other candidate. A former IAS officer, he was elected from Nungba assembly constituency for the first time.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh congratulated Gangmei (Dipu) on being elected as the Chairman of Hill Areas Committee (HAC).
“Looking forward to working with you to further enhance the process of peace and development in the hills of Manipur,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
