Dhaka: Habibur appointed as new Police Commissioner

Dhaka: Tourist police chief additional DIG Habibur Rahman has been made the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

The Public Security Division of the Home Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Wednesday.

On October 10, last year, the government promoted DIG of Police (Dhaka Range) Habibur Rahman to the rank of additional DIG and posted him to the tourist police.

Habibur was born at Chandra Dighlia village in Gopalganj in 1967. Shaban Mahmud, press secretary of the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi, mentioned in a Facebook status that, apart from government jobs, Habibur Rahman has been making unprecedented contributions to Bangladesh’s society, especially among the backward marginal people.

He joined the 17th BCS Police Cadre as an assistant superintendent of police.
