Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: A delegation of BJP, under the leadership of city district president Shirish Boralkar, on Tuesday requested collector Astik Kumar Pandey to declare a public holiday on January 22 on occasion of ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony of Sri Ram idol in Ayodhya temple.
In this regard, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the collector, stating that as ‘Pran Pratistha’ of Sri Ram is a historic moment to be held on January 22 in historical city of Ayodhya, a public holiday should be declared on January 22 so that maximum number of citizens can participate in this ceremony.
Lord Rama’s idol will be enshrined in Ayodhya in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saints, mahants and various dignitaries, it was stated.
Preparations for consecration of Lord Rama are also being completed and many devotees will be going to Ayodhya to witness this historic ceremony.
Since many religious and cultural programmes are planned on this day, a public holiday be given for this reason, they demanded.
