Kakinada: In a tragic incident, a college girl in a fit of anger against her mother for admonishing her for not going to college, in a bid to commit suicide jumped into the Polavaram canal in Hamsavaram village in Tuni mandal on Tuesday but her father rescued her and in the process, he drowned.
The passersby had tried to rescue him but he was swept away in the swirling waters.
The girl was admitted to Tuni area hospital where she is stated to be recovering .
The police who registered a case have launched a search for the drowned engaging swimmers.
