New Delhi: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Wednesday slammed the BJP-led government at the Centre over the hike in the price of domestic LPG cylinders and said it was an assault on people’s livelihoods by the ruling dispensation.

“Modi government’s assaults on people’s livelihoods are merciless,” CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury wrote in a tweet.

He further said, “Raise resources by taxing the super-rich and not by ruining lives.’

The price of a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder was increased by Rs 50, while of five kg by Rs 18 on Wednesday.

According to the price notification of Indian Oil Corporation, now a non-subsidized 14.2 kg cylinder will cost Rs 1,053 in Delhi.
