CPI (M)’s Brinda Karat calls on Manipur Governor Uikey

The team appreciated the efforts of Governor during the present crisis by paying repeated visits to affected areas and this has brought a huge amount of relief and satisfaction among affected people.

Imphal: In a gesture of gratefulness to Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey for her indomitable and selfless services at this time for the people of Manipur, a team of painters from Kakching led by Thoithoiba Mayanglambam along with Sagolsem Ronel, Khumukcham Ratan and Tekcham Nando presented a hand-painted portrait on handicraft item (Yangkok) of the Governor at Raj Bhavan Friday and apprised the difficulties faced by the artist due to the prevailing law and order situations of the State. Governor Uikey assured the artist team to extend necessary assistance from her office.

On the other hand, Brinda Karat, Ex-MP, CPI (M) and Srimathi Teacher, Ex-MP along with 6 others called on the Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Friday. The visiting team gave ground reports of the people staying in relief camps and the need for proper sanitation and supply of essential food items along with basic medicine for the inmates.

With the reopening of the schools in the State, the team informed that the general public at present is facing financial difficulties in paying school fees for their children especially in private schools and urged the Governor to look into the matter. 

The team also requested the Governor to ensure safety especially for the women and children during this ethnic conflict. The team has visited 18-20 relief camps and shared the details of relief camps which are not being run properly.

The team also expressed concern about the disposal of dead bodies and the shortage of specialized doctors in hill areas. Governor assured the team that efforts are in place from the Central and State Governments to bring the situation under complete control and immediate action will be taken for the grievances and concerns put forward by the team today.

Meanwhile, Lt. Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair, Director General, Assam Rifles along with Brig. Sushim Biswas, Deputy, IGAR (South) called on the Manipur Governor, Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan on Friday and apprised about present security situation of Manipur and the efforts put by Assam Rifles to bring peace and normalcy in Manipur.
