Covid claims 4 more lives in Arunachal, toll mounts to 68

The first death was reported from Lohit district. A 44-year-old man from Peon line in Tezu expired on Tuesday early morning at his residence. He was tested through rapid antigen test (RAT) and died due to cardiac arrest.

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Covid-19 death toll rose to 68 as four more patients succumbed to the virus, while 205 people were infected in the last 24 hours, taking the state’s caseload to 20,575.

According to the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services, of the four casualties reported, included a 60-year-old woman.

The first death was reported from Lohit district. A 44-year-old man from Peon line in Tezu expired on Tuesday early morning at his residence. He was tested through rapid antigen test (RAT) and died due to cardiac arrest.

The second casualty was from the state capital Itanagar. A 55-year-old man who was suffering from hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and diagnosed with Covid pneumonia died on DCH-Chimpu, near here. He expired due to acute respiratory distress syndrome.

While a 60-year-old woman who was referred from DCHC-Basar, Leparada district, expired on Tuesday afternoon at DCH-Pasighat in East Siang. She was diagnosed with Covid pneumonia and died due to acute respiratory distress syndrome.

The fourth death was reported from Changlang district. A 45-year-old Covid-19 patient with pre-existing conditions from New Colony, Jairampur , died on Tuesday at AMCH, Dibrugarh (Assam). He expired due to respiratory failure.

As per the bulletin, out of the new positive cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported the highest at 35, Lower Subansiri 21, Changlang and Namsai 17 each.

Barring 85, all the patients are asymptomatic.

On a positive note, 232 patients were discharged following their recovery from the virus in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 18,583. The recovery rate is over 90 percent. Active cases stood at 1,924.
