Congress-led government in Puducherry toppled

Narayanasamy has tendered his resignation along with his Council of Ministers to Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan following the defeat of confidence vote sought by the Chief Minister in the house.

Puducherry: The four-year-nine-month-old Congress-DMK government in the Union territory of Puducherry led by V Narayanasamy was toppled on Monday.

Narayanasamy has tendered his resignation along with his Council of Ministers to Lt. Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan following the defeat of the confidence vote sought by the Chief Minister in the house.

The Chief Minister and other ruling party members did not wait for the voting and left the house even as Speaker V P Sivakolunthu requested them to stay back.

Following this, Sivakolunthu has announced that the confidence motion was defeated and adjourned the house sine die. With agency inputs
