Bina (MP): Firing a broadside at the Congress, Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleged on Thursday that those who “ruled Madhya Pradesh for a long time post-Independence” gave nothing to the state barring corruption and crime.

Addressing a public meeting in this town of the election-bound state, Modi said the elder generation would remember how the Congress made Bundelkhand region “pine for water, electricity and proper roads”.

“Present-day youth may not recall that there was a time when Madhya Pradesh had the dubious distinction of being labelled as the most distressed state. In that period, criminals ruled the roost and the populace reposed no confidence whatsoever in the law and order situation. How could any trader muster courage to venture here?” he wondered.

However, Modi claimed the situation completely changed when the electorate provided the BJP a mandate. Madhya Pradesh was liberated from trepidation as the BJP dispensation honestly endeavoured to transform the state.

“Connectivity has improved and a positive atmosphere has been created for business. Now, major investors desire to come to this state. I am confident that in the coming years, Madhya Pradesh will attain fresh heights of industrial development,” he emphasised.
