Congress blocks traffic in Himachal town

Hamirpur (HP): Congress activists blocked traffic on the Hamirpur-Sujanpur road here in Himachal Pradesh on Friday in response to calls to observe protests across the country against inflation as well as unemployment.

Earlier, led by district President Rajendra Zar and others, the party activists marched from the party office to the office of the Deputy Commissioner and squatted on the main road.

The police rounded up 15 top leaders of the party on charges of disrupting traffic but later released them.

Zar said the BJP would be overthrown in the coming Assembly elections.
