Imphal: A combined team of Manipur Police and Central Forces with Executive Magistrates conducted a search operation at two locations in Imphal West District on Saturday while a warehouse belonging to L Susindro, Minister Civil Supplies, was burnt on Friday night.
Police said the warehouse was burnt at Kangla Sangomshang, Imphal-East under Heingang PS. Imphal East District Police dispersed the mob and the fire service controlled the fire. Incidents of arson also took place at two other locations in Imphal East District on Friday night.
State Police and Central Forces controlled the situation and dispersed the mob by using a large number of tear gas/ smoke shells.
During the last 24 hours, five arms were recovered from Imphal East districts. A total of 1100 arms, 13,702 ammunition and 250 bombs of different kinds have been recovered till date.
Police further said on Friday search operation was conducted by a joint team of Kangpokpi District Police and Central Forces at four locations In Kangpokpi District and four bunkers were destroyed. Another six bunkers have been occupied by security forces.
Meanwhile, the Manipur government has handed over a case of an IED blast on June 21 to NIA (National Investigation Agency) . It was stated that “involvement of insurgents operating in the state and across the border in the above mentioned case is highly suspected, the case is being transferred to NIA (National Investigation Agency) in the interest of National Security.”
At the Bishenpur district, an explosive was planted inside a four-wheeler which was parked over a bridge by some unknown miscreants.
In that some portion of the bridge at the Western side got badly damaged by the blast and three boys also sustained minor injuries from the blast and they were evacuated from the spot for medical treatment at hospital.
