Colours of Chhath puja seen at BJP’s national executive meet

The meeting of BJP's national executive is being held in the national capital, where top party leaders will deliberate on upcoming elections in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.

New Delhi: Colours of Chhath Puja, which started on Monday, was seen at the BJP’s national executive meet as women from the Poorvanchal Morcha welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other party leaders to the meeting venue.

The women dressed in traditional finery worn for Chhath puja, sang folk songs to welcome the Prime Minister.

Babita Tiwari, a member of BJP’s Poorvanchal Morcha, who comes from Burari in Delhi, said she wished the Prime Minister for Chhath.

“We sang the traditional songs of Chhath puja. Modiji wished us as well,” she said.

Saroj Bharti, another member of the morcha, said Chhath, the most widely celebrated festival of Bihar and Eastern Uttar Pradesh, is now a popular festival across the country.

“The whole country knows about the significance of Chhath today, as we pray for peace and prosperity for the country,” said Bharti.

The meeting of BJP’s national executive is being held in the national capital, where top party leaders will deliberate on upcoming elections in five states of Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Goa and Manipur.

An exhibition with the theme ‘Seva aur Samarpan’ is also being held at the meeting venue. Themes like ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, ‘Vocal for Local’, ‘Aatmnirbhar Bharat’ and 100 Crore vaccines are also among the themes at the exhibition.
