CNO reviews progress of PM SHRI Schools in Bishnupur

The presentation highlighted that out of the total 121 PM SHRI graded schools in the State, 15 schools are located in Bishnupur district, with a total student enrolment of 6,202 and 234 teachers serving in these institutions.

Bishnupur: Joint Secretary (IRAS) and Central Nodal Officer for PM SHRI Schools, Ministry of Education, Government of India, Bhaskar Choradia today chaired a review meeting on the implementation and progress of PM SHRI Schools in Bishnupur district at the Conference Hall of the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.

Delivering the welcome address, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam stated that PM SHRI Schools are envisioned to serve as model institutions that showcase best practices in pedagogy, infrastructure and the holistic development of students. She mentioned that the review meeting provides an important platform to assess the progress of PM SHRI Schools in the district, while also discussing their achievements, challenges and identifying strategies to further strengthen implementation. The DC further noted that such interactions help ensure that the objectives of this flagship programme are effectively realised at the grassroots level through collective efforts aimed at enhancing the quality of education and creating a vibrant learning environment for students.

During the meeting, Additional State Project Director, Samagra Shiksha (Secondary), Manipur, Khumukcham Renuka presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the status of PM SHRI graded schools in the district. The presentation highlighted that out of the total 121 PM SHRI graded schools in the State, 15 schools are located in Bishnupur district, with a total student enrolment of 6,202 and 234 teachers serving in these institutions.

The presentation also covered the status of various NEP parameters being implemented in the schools. Facilities such as the establishment of ATAL Tinkering Laboratories and the provision of related equipment were highlighted, which aim to promote scientific temper and cultivate a spirit of curiosity and innovation among young minds. It also emphasised the capacity-building programmes conducted for teachers through the nine DIET centres in the State, with the objective of enhancing teaching skills, adapting to current educational trends and effectively implementing modern teaching methodologies.

Taking stock of the presentation, Joint Secretary Bhaskar Choradia, who had also conducted field inspections at Oinam Hindu Primary School and Oinam Higher Secondary School, enquired about the facilities available in the schools and the challenges faced in implementing the scheme at the grassroots level.

The meeting was also attended by ADM Bishnupur Toijam Opendro, AC to DC Bishnupur Sh. Gunamani Singh, ZEO Bishnupur Atom Gunamani and other officials.
