Senapati: The Chief Minister of Manipur N. Biren Singh inaugurated and laid foundation stones of various projects for Senapati district while attending the 42nd Maralui Karalimei Swijoikang (Maram Students’ Union) Conference under the theme “Towards a transformed society” at N Raisung Ground, Maram Bazar, Senapati district on Saturday.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the Multipurpose Rural Development Centre in Maram Khullen and laid foundation stones for the construction of rigid pavement in Senapati District Headquarters, construction of Boys and Girls Hostel for Tribals at Maram, Tourist Circuit in Maram area, Meeyamgi Shanglen (Multipurpose Indoor Hall), Sports Ground with Gallery at Maram and Punanamei, Construction of office of SDO Lairouching, Infrastructure creation of CHC Maram, Infrastructure creation of PHC Maram Khullen and Infrastructure development of Maram Police Station.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the inaugural function, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said that the people of Maram have always shared a great attachment with its neighbour since time immemorial. He also expressed his happiness to the well-disciplined students who are devoted to their works. He affirmed that through strong discipline, we can build a civilized and developed society.
The Chief Minister maintained that by fostering inclusive development, mutual respect, and equal sharing, there will be unity and a sense of oneness among all communities in the State. Mentioning some welfare schemes which have benefited lakhs of people, he stated that Go to Village, CMHT and various other citizen-centric schemes were initiated to fulfill the objective of uniform development both in the hills and valley.
He stated that a multi-storey vehicle parking is being constructed in Senapati, which is first of its kind in the State. Indigenous Sports complex is being built with an estimated cost of around Rs. 14 crore. He sought the cooperation and support for the timely completion of various development projects being carried out in the district.
He also sought co-operation and active participation of church leader, CSO’s and various indigenous and recognised communities in restoring normalcy and peace in the State like the Committee of Peace and Integrity did in the 1990s.
He mentioned a total amount of Rs 27.26 crores for the construction of rigid pavement in Senapati District Headquarters.
In the Guest of Honour speech, Francis Ngajokpa, Former Minister exhorted the gathering to be positive in all aspects of life from the very beginning of one’s journey. He also urged to take advantage of the available facilities and resources for the betterment of the society.
Former Deputy Speaker of Manipur, K. Raina also in his guest of honour speech applauded the CM for his availability and concern for MKS. Citing on the theme he stated that CM is a role model for transformed society in the state as many changes have been brought in the state through various government interacted programmes.
Upon the chief guest arrival, N. Biren Singh unveiled the monolith and unfurled the flag of 42nd MKS Conference.
Various cultural dance and folk song were presented by different village youth during the programme.
