Imphal: The government is here for the public, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh said Monday addressing a public meeting at Tokpaching, Kakching, and further stressing the various schemes implemented in the state, including the CMHT, Har Ghar Jal, Ayushman Bharat, CMST, etc.
The Chief Minister, accompanied by Hiyanglam MLA Dr. Y. Radheshyam, Loktak Development Authority Chairman, M. Asnikumar, and others, were on an inspection visit of the area.
The Chief Minister primarily inspected the Pumlen Pat neighbourhood and the Mondum Mahadev temple.
Highlighting that the area has several historically relevant sites, including Mondum Mahadev, Khuman Pokpa, Moirang Kangleirol, Pumlen Pat, etc., the Chief Minister said that he has come to bring development to the area. He further highlighted several development projects taken up by his government in recent times, including the Chivu Chandrakirti Park at Behiang, the Marjing Polo Complex, the Manipur Heritage Park, the Sangai Ethnic Park, the Olympian Park, etc.
Concerning settlement in the area and residents’ fear of eviction, the Chief Minister stated that if the settlement existed prior to the notification of the Reserved Forest Area, they could be exempted and provided with pattas. At the same time, the Chief Minister warned against building structures on bodies of water in order to preserve the lake.
“We are trying to bring development to the entire state,” the Chief Minister said, adding that all these developments and schemes are for the welfare of the people.
The Chief Minister also approved the continuation of conservation and development efforts in the Pumlen Pat, with the goal of making it clean by August and attracting more tourists. He also assured various developments in the area, including the completion of the road stretch from Ithai Barrage, the completion of a bridge construction project under PMGSY, etc.
