Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister emphasized the historical significance of the event, calling it a pivotal moment for the indigenous communities that have coexisted for generations. He reiterated, “Manipur belongs to the indigenous people, and our forefathers defended this land with swords and spears.” He assured the government’s unwavering commitment to protecting and safeguarding the indigenous population at all costs.

Expressing concerns about a loss of historical awareness, N. Biren Singh highlighted the sacrifices of ancestors who defended Manipur for over 2,000 years. He mentioned initiatives like the Go to Hills Mission, launched to research the region’s history and identify sites of historical importance. He also referred to ongoing efforts, including the preservation and restoration of historical sites, such as the ₹6 crore Makhel Heritage Park in Senapati district.

He urged the public to examine government records on population, geography, and demographics to address challenges faced by indigenous communities.

He also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to tackling social issues, including the ongoing War on Drugs initiative, which aims to protect the youth. Singh acknowledged the contributions of Manipur Police, Assam Rifles, CAPFs, CSOs, and volunteers in eradicating poppy plantations.

He expressed gratitude to the people of Chadong for their sacrifices for the state’s progress.
