CM Biren attends Chingtham Anandakumar Memorial Football Tourney

Imphal: Chief Minister N Biren Singh attended the closing ceremony of 1st State Level SDPO Chingtham Anandakumar Memorial 9-A side Veteran Football Tournament-2024, Imphal West on Thursday. The tournament was organised by YDCCML & Southern Imphal Cultural Organisations (SICO) club at SICO ground, Haobam Marak, Lourembam Leikai, Imphal West.

The programme began with a solemn tribute to SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar by N. Biren Singh leading others and offering floral wreaths in his memory.

The Chief Minister recalled that late Chingtham Anandakumar was a brave son of the soil who sacrificed his life for the Nation. N. Biren Singh also remembered that he was a very sincere and dedicated officer who loved his motherland. His tenure in Moreh, a location often avoided by many due to its difficulties, was a testament to his unwavering dedication to serve his state. The Chief Minister remarked that SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar’s exceptional efforts and sacrifices would forever be remembered in the history of Manipur. The police officer who was performing his duty was killed in cold blood by narco-terrorists, he added.

He reiterated that after the unwanted incident occurred, combing operation was conducted in the area and the suspects have been arrested.

N. Biren Singh commended the family members and the organising committee for their dedication in hosting the tournament in honour of SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar’s memory.

The Chief Minister assured that the government would extend assistance to the family members of SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar, further emphasizing the government’s recognition of his invaluable service and legacy.

During the function, Ch. Andry, the eldest son of SDPO Chingtham Anandkumar, presented a football jersey to the Chief Minister as a gesture of appreciation and remembrance.

An exhibition match was played between Integrity FC vs Peace FC which was followed by the final match between Manipur Police Sports Club vs Champ FC.

The closing ceremony was attended by the Forest Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh, Works Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, Karam Shyam MLA Langthabal AC, S. Kebi Devi MLA Naoriya Pakhanglakpa AC, family members of Chingtham Anandkumar and members of the clubs, among others.
