CM Biren appeals to public to get Covid vaccinated

The Manipur government announced a Mass Vaccination Campaign in the State from 11th to 14th April.

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh Thursday announced to conduct a Mass Vaccination Campaign in the State from 11th to 14th April this year.

Facilities for vaccination would be made available to all the health care units including private hospitals during the campaign, he added. He made the announcement after attending a meeting with the Prime Minister and Chief Ministers of all states, through video conferencing, on the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the Country.

N. Biren Singh stated that the percentage of vaccination in the State for individuals above 60 years of age is very low, with nearly 2000 individuals getting vaccinated out of around 6 lakhs so far. He appealed to the public who are eligible for vaccination to get vaccinated during the mass vaccination campaign so as to prevent from the second wave of the pandemic.

Raising concern over the alarming rate of positive cases in some states, he stressed the need for 100 percent vaccination of Health Care Workers and Front-Line Workers as they are the one who render services for containment of the pandemic.

Maintaining that the his government has been taking up necessary measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, the Chief Minister urged the public to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and to observe Covid Appropriate Behaviours. He also appealed to the public to come up for timely testing, if they observe any symptoms, as prevention is the most effective way to successfully fight the pandemic.

The Chief Minister also appealed to the State Police and other Front-Line Workers to perform their duties sincerely while enforcing the SOPs.
