Chopper with two people on board crashes off UAE coast

Emergency services have recovered the wreckage and are still searching for the crew members. The investigation team is on its way to the scene.

Dubai: A helicopter belonging to Dubai-based airline Aerogulf crashed into the Gulf Sea off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, UAE news agency WAM reported Friday, citing the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).


The incident occurred during a night training session on Thursday after the Bell 212 chopper, carrying two pilots of Egyptian and South African nationality, took off from Al Maktoum International Airport, the news agency said.


Emergency services have recovered the wreckage and are still searching for the crew members. The investigation team is on its way to the scene.
