Sahibganj: Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday kicked off the ‘Haath Se Haath Jodo Abhiyaan’ from Pakur in this district during which he came down heavily on the Centre and accused it of shielding the Adani Group.

Speaking on the occasion he said that time has come when the people of the country will give a befitting reply to the BJP.

He said that inflation, price rise and unemployment are at an all time high in the state.

Kharge said that there was a time when a gas cylinder came at Rs 700 but such is a situation now that people are even finding it hard to get a single cylinder filled and even accused the BJP of closing down 71,000 schools.

Adding further he said that those who always talk about the poor are in reality trying to eradicate the poor.

Continuing his attacks further Kharge said that he had raised the issue of Adani’s income increasing rapidly under the patronage of the BJP which has reached to 13 lakh crore in just two and half years.

Describing Adani as a friend of Prime Minister Narendra Modi he said that Modi has given money from the SBI and LIC to Adani and claimed that so far Modi has given Rs 82,000 crore to the Adani.

Kharge said that when he raised the issue inside the parliament he was taken out while when the issue of poverty was raised the speech was declared unparliamentary.

Kharge said that the Prime Minister helped Adani get contracts also in other countries and demanded the Prime Minister to tell as to on how many occasions he has travelled abroad with Adani.

He said that the Congress is fighting for the poor and the farmers but the BJP is working for its corporate friends.

The Congress national president said that he had come to seek the blessings of people of Jharkhand and also sought the support of the people for the bypolls on Ramgarh seat of Jharkhand Assembly.

He also appreciated the works being done by the Mahagathbandhan government of Jharkhand and advocated the need for opposition unity to take on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.
