Imphal:  The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has agreed to extend the deadline for completion of capturing of biographic and biometric details of illegal migrants in the state of Manipur by six months i.e up to March 31, 2024.

The process of capturing had been initiated and the initial timeline for completion of the exercise is September 30, 2023.

It may be mentioned that the State Government and the state legislators currently at New Delhi had requested the MHA to extend the deadline so that capturing of the data of all illegal migrants from Myanmar can be ensured, in view of difficulties in the present situation.

Considering the requirement of more time to complete the exercise, the Ministry has agreed to extend the deadline and also instructed the State Government to take appropriate necessary action to complete the exercise within the revised time period i.e. by March 31, 2024.
